The inspector checked in with Basil Bear of
Bowie Resources, LLC at the Bowie No. 2 Mine office. Basil was conducting maintenance at the Bowie No. 2
Mine and was unavailable to accompany the inspector at the Bowie No. 1 inspection.
The weather was lightly cloudy, dry and hot.
HYDROLOGIC BALANCE-Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1,4.05.2,4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5,4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Impoundments 4.05.6,4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
The site was dry at the time of the inspection.
At the West Mine, 2 ponds remain. The Division has approved the removal of both of the west mine ponds. BRL
has indicated that they do not plan to reclaim the West Mine ponds this summer. Both west mine ponds were dry
and well vegetated.
The ROM sediment pond reclamation looks good and continues to fill in with vegetation. Steven's Gulch was
flowing, 0.05 on the staff gauge at the upstream flume.
The East mine reclaimed ponds were not accessed due to cattle clustering at the main entry gate to the East mine.
Drainage at the Highway stockpile area was good with no gully formation, and collection ditch was functioning
appropriately.
RECLAMATION SUCCESS -Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The mine area has dried out since the last inspection in June. Early season forbs are drying up, but
perennial grasses, Cicer milkvetch, and other perennial species were still green and providing good vegetative
cover. One small patch of White Top(Hoary Cress)was observed on the west side of the West Mine about 1/3 of
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 0
Page 2 of 5
