Subject: Geotechnical Review of Cut Slopes, Ducray Pit, 580 221/2 Road, Grand Junction,
Colorado
Gentlemen:
As requested, a representative Kumar&Associates met with you at the subject site on June 3,
2019 to observe the existing cut slopes. The purpose of our services was to review the cut slopes
in the"Newly Affected Lands", shown on the attached Figure 1, that potentially could impact the
surrounding structures. Our findings are presented in this report. The services were performed
in accordance with our agreement for professional engineering services to Martinez Western
Construction dated May 28, 2019.
Background Information: The "Newly Affected Lands"were used as a borrow area for fill
material for previous a construction project. We understand that no further removal of borrow
material is planned at this time. We also understand that the review of the cut slopes in the
"Newly Affected Lands"areas is needed for submittal to the State of Colorado.
Site Conditions: The project site is currently mostly vacant. A few piles of construction type
debris were observed scattered throughout the site at the time of our visit. A mobile home was
parked to the east of the southernmost "Newly Affected Lands" area shown on Figure 1.
Vegetation consists of native grass and weeds and scattered sage brush and cactus. The
Colorado River is approximately 1,000 feet northeast of the subject site.
The"Added Dwelling" shown on Figure 1 is approximately 300 feet east of the southern "Newly
Affected Lands" area. The "Ducray House"is approximately 300 feet east of the northern
"Newly Affected Lands" area. The"Bennet House"is approximately 230 feet southwest of the
southern"Newly Affected Lands" area. The"Bennet Garage"is approximately 220 feet west of
the southern"Newly Affected Lands" area. The"Excel Overhead Power Pole"is approximately
130 feet southeast of the southern"Newly Affected Lands" area. The"Ducray Water Tap"is
approximately 90 feet west of the southern"Newly Affected Lands" area. The"Ducray Septic
System" is approximately 60 feet east of the northern"Newly Affected Lands" area. The
