L.G. EVERIST, INC.
Rcx;x SouD SINCE 1876 7321 E. 88m AVENUE, Sung.200
HENDERSON, COL.ORADO 80640
PRONE 303-287-9606 • Fax 303-289-1348
SAND
June 5, 2019
Mr. Eric Scott
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, CO 80203
via Certified/Return Receipt Mail- 7016 1370 0001 0670 4188
RE: Acreage Release Request
Carr Gravel Resource, Permit M-1988-048
Dear Mr. Scott:
L.G. Everist, Incorporated (L.G. Everist or LGE), as Permittee/Operator respectfully submits the
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety's (DRMS) form, Request for Full or Partial Release of
Permit Area/Surety Reduction. This Acreage Release Request is for release of 273 acres of Carr
Gravel Resource, DRMS Permit# M-1988-048. A copy of Carr Gravel Resource's Exhibit F:
Reclamation Plan Map (2015) is attached for reference.
The 273 acres are located in the southern half of Section 35, Township 11 North, Range 67 West, 61n
P.M., Weld County, Colorado. These acres have been mined and reclaimed, and are ready to be
released. The grass growth on the acres to be released has progressed reasonably well in this
northern Colorado high plains environment. It is fairly substantial, sustainable, and on par with the
naturally occurring vegetation in neighboring properties.
In November 2017, L.G. Everist asked DRMS to conduct a routine inspection of the Carr Gravel
Resource site. At the time, you noted that "some of the recently reclaimed areas may need to be
reseeded...there has been good progress with concurrent reclamation... Efforts to control cheat-grass
and other undesirable weeds will need to be maintained."
We have followed your guidance and have been controlling cheat-grass and other weeds as much as
possible by spraying and mowing. We have also re-seeded areas where growth was sparse. Please
see the attached invoices from March-2017 through April-2019, which list the seeding, weed spraying
and mowing efforts which we have employed at the Carr site.
Within the area to be released, there is a small depressed rectangular area (roughly 6 acres, about 2%
of the 273 acres), that contains soils with a naturally-occurring high alkali content - high lime and salts.
Please see the attached Soil Analysis Report for reference. Due to the high alkali content, grass
growth is thinner in this small area. We seeded it with a saline/alkali tolerant mix to give it the best
chance of grass growth with the harsher soil conditions.
CARR-DRMS-AcreageReleaseRequest-June20l9-via Certified/Return Receipt Mail-7016 1370 0001 0670 4188
