The
inspection was completed by Clayton Wein, Janet Binns, Brock Bowles and Amy Yeldell of the Colorado
Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (the Division). The weather was overcast and raining off and on
throughout the first day and partly cloudy on the second day. Ground conditions were damp in the mornings and
dry in the afternoons. The inspection was conducted in conjunction with year 10 vegetation sampling at the mine
site. The vegetation sampling was conducted by the Division.
FISH and WILDLIFE – Rule 4.18:
Throughout the inspection deer scat was seen at the site. A couple of lizards were also spotted during the
inspection. Other signs of wildlife, such as tracks, were seen at the mine site.

RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The Fruita No. 1 and No. 2 Mine is a revoked site. The haul road (Photo 1 & 2) and the main bench
(Photo 3 & 4) have been reclaimed for several years. Vegetation at the site was well-established and stabilizing
the site. The reclaimed haul road was stable and well vegetated. Some riling has occurred, as noted in previous
Division inspection reports. The rills have not enlarged significantly. The reclaimed portals bench was stable
with no major erosional features. Vegetation at the site was well-established. Spring moisture in the area of the
mine site has been good in 2019. Vegetation on the reclaimed bench was lush and thriving. The out-slopes of the
reclaimed bench were sparsely vegetated. This has been documented in previous inspections. The out-slopes
were stable with minimal erosion.
