B-15
review of reasonably available information, to include topographic mapping, well logs (e.g., online
Colorado State Engineer records),geologic interpretation and literature review,in conjunction with limited-
scope, but media-specific, field investigations.
Surface Water Resources
The immediate area surrounding the Keenesburg Project generally consists of and upland habitat devoid of
any surface water (Attachment B-1: Environmental Resource Report; Rettew Associates, Inc.; 2019),
with the exception of one shallow drainage feature that extends through the east portion of Section 12. This
named drainage feature (Ennis Draw) is depicted on USGS topographic mapping (Tampa, Colorado 7.50
Quadrangle),and is located approximately 3/4-mile to the east of the easternmost Permit Area boundary line.
Ennis Draw sources from an area approximately 1-1/2 miles to the south of the Permit Area. It then courses
directly south to north along the easternmost portion of the southerly abutting Section 13, entering the
subject Section 12 at or near the Section's extreme southeast corner. It then continues directly north
immediately interior and parallel to the Section 12 east line, and appears to effectively terminate(possibly
due to infiltration)within the SETA of the northerly abutting Section 1.
Proximal to the Section 12 southeast corner, the nominal bottom elevation of Ennis Draw is at or about
4,830 ft. amsl, with the feature exhibiting an approximate 1% (or less) stream gradient downward to the
north. A small (< 0.5-acre) surface water feature is present approximately 400 ft. (m/1) to the west of the
main course of Ennis Draw(in the NE1/4 of the SE1/4 of Section 12). This feature is utilized by Guttersen
Ranches LLC for stock watering purposes. Situated up gradient of and between two localized higher
elevation areas, the feature is within and/or establishes a separate small, but discrete drainage that is
tributary to Ennis Draw at a location approximately 1/4-mile further down gradient. The aforementioned
surface water feature itself is approximately 3/4-mile distant(to the east-northeast) from the Permit Area.
A larger surface water feature(estimated to be approximately 6 to 8 acres in surface area)is located exterior
to Section 12, in the extreme southeast corner of the easterly abutting Section 7; T2N;R63W. This feature
is situated within the main stem of Ennis Draw and it is similarly owned and utilized by Guttersen Ranches
LLC for stock watering purposes. This feature is approximately 1-mile directly east of the Permit Area.
Topographic mapping also depicts another proximally-situated surface water feature present at a location
approximately 1-mile east-southeast of the Permit Area. This feature is situated some 1,000 ft. (m/1) up
Keenesburg Project—Limited Impact 110 Application_May 24,2019
