2.05.6(6) Subsidence Survey, Subsidence Monitoring, and Subsidence Control Plan <br />East Salt Creek, Big Salt Wash and the associated alluvium for both <br />streams are outside of the area to be mined. They will not be affected by <br />subsidence. <br />State Highway 139 is outside of the area to be mined. It will not be <br />affected by subsidence. <br />The gas pipelines and utility lines are outside of the area to be mined. <br />They will not be affected by subsidence. <br />The stockponds within the permit and adjacent area are outside of the <br />area to be mined. They will not be affected by subsidence. <br />Disruption of perched water bearing zones could occur due to mining <br />where the water bearing zones lie in the immediate vicinity of the mine <br />roof. Because of the nature of this groundwater, this does not constitute <br />any affect on groundwater resources. The local perched water -bearing <br />zones would be disrupted, but are limited in extent and are not put to <br />beneficial use. No affect on area water utilization is anticipated. <br />The stream gradient of an ephemeral channel could change because of <br />differential vertical settlement due to subsidence over a short distance. In <br />an extreme case, gradient changes may disrupt flow. Such an event is <br />not probable in topographic conditions of the area where most stream <br />channels are relatively steep. Flow through the drainages could <br />temporarily be affected by a subsidence crack across a stream channel, <br />however, the crack would be expected to heal fairly quickly so the surface <br />drainage pattern would be naturally restored. These ephemeral channels <br />are expected to be typically dry with flow occurring during spring snowmelt <br />and after significant precipitation events. Therefore, short term disruptions <br />in the flow from these streams should have very little impact on the water <br />budget for East Salt Creek or Big Salt Wash. <br />PR -02 2.05-71 10/12 <br />
