2.05.6 Mitigation of the Impacts of Mining Operations <br />(4) Protection of public parks and historic places <br />(4)(a) There are no publicly owned parks or places listed on the National <br />Register of Historic Places that may be adversely affected by the <br />proposed operation. <br />(4)(b) The Applicant had Cultural Resource Surveys performed at the <br />mine site. Site 5GF741, a rock- shelter, has been avoided. The <br />Applicant has contributed to the cost of an excavation at this site. <br />Linear site 5GF4377.1, the East Salt Creek Canyon Trail, will be <br />avoided. All other sites can and will be avoided. A May 2012 <br />Cultural Resource Survey in the lease modification area performed <br />by Grand River Institute resulted in the recording of one newly <br />identified resource, 5GF.4692, a historic road. The historic road is <br />field evaluated as not eligible for listing on the National Register of <br />Historic Places, and no further work is recommended. <br />(5) Surface mining near underground mining <br />The proposed operation is an underground mine.
