RPM,Inc.
Program at sites where a land owner wishes to not install a permanent closure to an underground
mine opening.
4. The reclamation plan states that the shaft adjacent to the Anthracite Creek will be further
buried. Please describe, in detail, measures to be taken to further secure the shaft.
Response:
The historic mine opening is presently secured will a steel cone of great weight. The steel cone
is buried several feet into the surface of the ground. We intend to add an additional several feet
of earth around the inverted cone to further secure the opening. The cone does not have a door
or access point. The only way to access the mine opening is to cut through the steel or physically
remove the steel cone.
We estimate the steel cone to have a diameter at the large end of 10 feet and to be approximately
10 feet in height. (The cone is partially buried and we are estimating its dimensions.) Given its
size and weight, one would likely need a piece of construction equipment to move the steel cone
to gain access to the mine from this point.
Proof of Mailing to the Gunnison County Clerk and Recorder:
SENDER:COMPLETE THIS SECTION COMPLETE THIS SFCTION ON DEOVERY
■ Complete items 1,2,and 3.
