March 20, 2019 C-1981-018/Deserado Mine CCW <br /> <br /> <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 6 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3 <br /> <br /> Page 6 of 9 <br /> <br /> <br />Photo 5: The RP-2/3 Pond. <br /> <br />PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES – Rule 4.10 and 4.11 <br />Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement: <br /> There are two active refuse piles at the Deserado Mine, the RP -2/3/4 pile and the RP-5a Pile. The top of <br />the RP-2/3/4 pile had the snow plowed into windrows to allow the refuse to dr y. The outslopes of the pile were <br />covered in snow. There were no erosional features identified or indications of instability. Refuse was actively <br />being placed on the RP-5a pile. The outslopes of the pile were covered with snow. There was no evidence o f <br />instability or erosion. <br /> <br />ROADS – Rule 4.03 <br />Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3), Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4), Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and <br />(6)/4.03.2(5) and (6), Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br /> The Haul road was in good repair and stable. The drainage ditch along the section of the haul road that <br />connects the main facilities area to County Road 65 had become filled with sediment. The sediment traps, made <br />out of straw bales, were mostly filled with sediment as well. The Division recommends cle aning out the ditch and <br />sediment traps to design specifications. Access roads throughout the mine site were in good condition. Minor <br />rutting had occurred in some locations. The ruts were not significant enough to warrant repairs. <br /> <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br /> Support facilities visited during the inspection included; <br /> <br />- Wash Plant/Main facilities area <br />- Slot Storage <br />- Nitrogen Plant #2 <br />- RDH-2 <br />- RDH-4
