Response: As a clarification, Maps 23, Mine Plan; 2313, Structures and Renewable Resources; and 23C,
Mine Plan — Surface Disturbance and Monitoring; provide relevant mine plan information for the
previously completed mining in the Wadge Coal Seam. Maps WC23, Wolf Creek Mine Plan; and
WC2313, Wolf Creek Structures and Renewable Resources; provide similar information for the ongoing
mining in the Wolf Creek Seam. As noted, there are some inconsistencies in map designations and
references, which have now been corrected, the panels are labelled on the maps, and the maps have been
updated to include all relevant information. Copies of updated documentation accompany these responses
for replacement in the PAP.
9. Currently approved Map 23 Wolf Creek Mine Plan Map was last updated with RN7. Please update
this map including the state of the underground mine pool, subsidence monitoring areas, additional
surface features, and affected area boundary.
Response: The relevant maps for the Wolf Creek Seam have been reviewed and updated consistent with
the previous response.
10. Please Update Map 23 c- Mine Plan Surface Disturbance and Monitoring (which does not appear to
depict all items which will be under mined).
Response: Please see previous responses to Comments 8 and 9.
11. Please update the text in Section 2.05 to include the potential impacts of mining in the PR -12 area on
Middle Creek. The creek appears to overly eastern sections of the proposed panels in the Wolf Creek
Seam.
Response: Section 2.05 has been reviewed and revised to address potential subsidence effects on Middle
Creek consistent with the subsidence evaluation provided in Exhibit 7K and extensive experience relative
to subsidence effects on area streams. Copies of updated documentation accompany these responses for
replacement in the PAP.
12. The revised text did not state any changes to the Subsidence Monitoring Program. Panels WC -IRT
through WC-4RT will further subside previously subsided areas and some new lands that have not
been previously subsided. Please update the text with a section addressing any updates to the existing
Subsidence Monitoring Plan, and a new section of text that specifically identifies items overlying the
new panels, such as RCR33, that will be included in the monitoring program.
Response: When mining began in the Wolf Creek Seam, TC initiated a voluntary subsidence monitoring
program, which involves surveying a grid of GPS locations over the potential subsidence area for each
panel prior to initiation of longwall mining and then continuing to survey the same grid points during and
following longwall mining until no significant additional subsidence is occurring. This is in addition to
the specific monitoring for structures and renewable resources that is already in the plan. The relevant
text has been reviewed and revised to incorporate a discussion of these ongoing monitoring activities, and
text discussions have been added relative to specific structures and resources that could potentially be
affected. Copies of updated documentation accompany these responses for replacement in the PAP.
13. Proposed revised text included with the application updated the text for the Subsidence Control Plan.
The text on P. 2.05-197.3 references the control plan for WC-4RT through WC-9RT. Please revise
the text to include all of the planned mining area, panels WC -IRT through WC-9RT.
Response: The subsidence control plan text has been reviewed and revised, as appropriate, to include the
additional longwall mining areas. Copies of updated documentation accompany these responses for
replacement in the PAP.
