16. Excavation will be in the hill tops of the site and therefore will be kept above any
possible ground water elevation. The operation will not require any type of
dewatering.
17. This property is hilly with slopes crossing the proposed pit limits on the north,
south and easterly sides of the mining area. It is the intent to excavate the property
so as not to allow any runoff from excavated area. Adequate temporary berming
(as shown on Exhibit E—Mining Plan Map), will be performed on the
northeasterly edges of the excavation areas to insure runoff water will be directed
to existing north-south oriented drainage gullies. A series of earthen check dams
will be constructed across these gullies (as shown on Exhibit E—Mining Plan
Map) to contain runoff within the pit perimeter. The pit floor material is granular
and water will percolate into the pit floor. Should it become necessary silt fences
will be used as required along with berm maintenance. CRCC erosion supervisors
will regularly monitor the performance of these measures and adjust as they deem
necessary. Runoff from water outside the excavation area, if necessary, will be
diverted to its normal runoff pattern.
18. The operation will not affect any Colorado water laws or regulations governing
injury to existing water rights. No ponds will remain to evaporate water, nor will
any water course be interrupted. No change in the runoff pattern will result.
19. No explosives will be required in the mining operation.
