III. PROPERTY OR AREA
The legal description of the Mule Creek Gravel Pit is as follows:
Section 30,Township 12 S.,Range 69 W., 6`"Principle Meridian.
State of Colorado Mined claim#M-2000-077.
Divide Quadrangle, 1994
t IV. DESCRIPTION OF THE OPERATION
A. ACCESS k
The mining area consists of 18 acres, 14 on National Forest System lands and 4 acres on private land.
There is an existing entrance off of U.S. Hwy. 67,approximately 4 n- les south of Divide,Colorado.
This entry will have to be improved by widening it to 40 feet and installing new 30"culverts under the
new roadbed. Riprap will he installed on both ends to control erosion. This construction will be on
private land.
A septic system on the private land has been removed and disposed of on private land. This fill area
will also be used for the disposal of any stumps that cannot be used in final reclamation. A drainage
and erosion control report was completed by URS Greiner for this project and has been included with
this plan of operations. This report calls for the installation of a large detention pond located on the
private land portion of this project. Silt fence will be used at the west boundary fence to reduce and or
eliminate storm run off.Silt fence will also be used along the bottom of the intermittent stream to help
insure water quality. These silt fences will be on private land.
There will need to be a new access route constructed on private land to connect to an existing road
p g
on National Forest land in the north drainage by the north(marked boundary)blue line. When final
reclamation is complete this road will no longer exist, and will be reclaimed in conjunction with the
reclamation plan.
All maintenance will be preformed by PK Enterprises for the life of the gravel pit and until final
reclamation has been approved. Slash and topsoil will be stored along the outside of the painted
boundary line.
B. MAP,SKETCH—See Attachment
Topsoil will be stored on the perimeter of the boundary line, which was established by the U.S.Forest
Service. The approximate location of these storage piles can be found on the color-coded map that is
included-and made part of this plan. The topsoil piles are colored green and will be approximately 20' - -
_, by 50'in length and width. Slash and smaller stumps will be stored along this same boundary line and
can be found on the map colored in pink. These piles will also be 20'X 50'in area. Timber removal
and clearing will be done inside the boundary line and is indicated on the map in blue. There is
approximately 4.5 acres of timber to be removed.
-2-
1
