LG Everist
February 5, 2019
states that the working faces within the stages will be mined to a"near vertical"configuration
prior to installation of the liner/backfill. Assuming an average depth of 35 feet,to achieve a 3:1
(H:V) lined, final slope for the interior of the reservoirs will require approximately 136,111 cubic
yards of material to be placed and compacted per 1000 feet of perimeter distance. Will the
required volume of material be available on-site?
Please provide DRMS with a conceptual schematic for the configuration and installation of the
clay liner, and a total perimeter distance around each mining stage to be reclaimed as lined water
storage(Stages 2-5). This will allow DRMS to more accurately calculate the bond required to
seal the reservoirs to SEO standards and to re-slope the interior of the reservoir areas to no
steeper than 3:1. If you have recent rates for this work that you wish DRMS to use, please
provide adequate documentation for those rates.
Please submit responses to these items to the Division in advance of the TR decision date of
March 4,2019. If there are still outstanding deficiencies and the permittee has not requested
additional time, in writing, the Division must issue a surety increase based on the information
already provided.
If you have any questions, please contact me at(303) 866-3567 x8140.
Sincerely,
Eric Scott
Environmental Protection Specialist
