• Scope
This plan applies to the grounds of Moon Pit#2.The plan includes approved IPM strategies for
managing and eradicating pests that are common to the area, and provides resources to
facilitate learning about new strategies for pest management. This plan is applicable until the
site is released from reclamation.
• Strategy
Strategies for noxious weed management on site are entirely dependent on target species, time
of year, and environmental conditions such as drought. In general applicators should treat the
site prior to seed production of the weeds found on site. The treatment intervals specified in
this plan should give ample timing to successfully prevent seed head production. Specific
strategies for target pest should be used to best manage what was found on site(Figures 1-9). If
any species reach seed head production manual pulling should be used to reduce the amount of
seeds that are able to contribute to the seed bank.
• Record Keeping
Spray records and records of work carried out on site will be the responsibility of the contractor.
Record information should be stored in such a way that it can be provided to Northwest
Aggregates and Division of Reclamation and Mining Safety upon request.
Records should include the information below:
1. Date,time method
2. location of pesticide application
3.Target pest
4. Prevention and other non-chemical methods of control used
S.Type and application rate of pesticide used, including trade name and active ingredient
6. Summary of results
7. Name of the pesticide applicator
8.Application equipment used and calibration
• Treatment/Monitoring Intervals
Specified treatment interval can be dependent on monitoring efforts however the site should
always receive 1-2 chemical treatments a growing season.Treatments should start as soon as
spraying conditions allow in the spring with temperature and precipitation. Initially at least
three treatments a growing season should be used to aggressively reduce the available seed
bank on site with the amount of weeds present upon inspection. Additional manual and
mechanical treatments can be carried out as needed to remove mature or dead weeds from
location.
