PERMIT#:M-1973-021 <br /> INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: MAC <br /> INSPECTION DATE: February 28,2017 <br /> Central Quarry: <br /> The Central Quarry is currently being used to stockpile material and equipment. During the previous <br /> inspection, a small area of ponded water was located at the south end of the Central Quarry. This area of <br /> ponded water has been eliminated and final grading of the quarry walls has been completed. A fuel storage <br /> area is located within the Central Quarry; all fuel storage tanks were within spill containment areas. <br /> South Quarry: <br /> Active mining operations are being carried out in the South Quarry. In 2016, mining occurred between 6,600' <br /> and 7,360' and was primarily confined to the western portions of the quarry. Mining will continue within the <br /> same footprint in 2017, with no planned expansion of the South Quarry. The Operator is currently mining the <br /> 7,000' level. The quarry benches will transition from 40' to 70' below the 7,000' level. <br /> Roads: <br /> The Operator is planning on realigning the haul road in 2017. The new haul road alignment will wrap around <br /> the central quarry and will provide a safer route to access the upper levels of the South Quarry. <br /> Revegetation: <br /> The Operator reclaimed approximately 2.7 acres at the uppermost levels of the South Quarry.The reclaimed <br /> area is not currently accessible and the Division was unable to evaluate the vegetation in this area. The <br /> Division observed diffuse knapweed around the perimeter of the affected area. Weed control is conducted <br /> annually at the Morrison Quarry is contracted out to Foothills Vegetation Management. <br /> Signs and Markers: <br /> A permit sign was displayed at the site entrance and the boundary of the affected area was adequately <br /> delineated as required by Rule 3.1.12. <br /> Page 3 of 5 <br />
