Tn trodu cti on <br />This document is the decision package prepared by the Colorado Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining and Safety (the Division) for Permit Renewal No. 8 for the McClane Canyon Mine. This <br />document includes: 1) the proposed decision to approve the renewal application; 2) a summary <br />which includes a history of the review of the permit application, a description of the environment <br />affected by the operation and a description of the mining and reclamation plan; and 3) the written <br />findings of compliance the Division has made as required by the Colorado Surface Coal Mining <br />Reclamation Act. Detailed information concerning the findings of compliance can be found in <br />the Regulations of the Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board for Coal Mining. <br />The Division has received an application for a renewal to a permit to conduct surface coal <br />mining and reclamation operations at the McClane Canyon Mine. The application was submitted <br />by McClane Canyon Mining, LLC. The mine will be operated by McClane Canyon Mining, <br />LLC. The mine is located on federal and private lands within Garfield County, Colorado. The <br />legal description of the lands included within the permit area is: <br />Township 7 South, Range 102 West, 6th P.M. <br />Section 15: <br />All <br />Section 16: <br />E/2 <br />Section 21: <br />E/2, E/2 W/2, SW/4 NW/4, NW/4 SW/4 <br />Section 22: <br />All <br />Section 27: <br />N/2 <br />Section 28: <br />NW/4 NE/4, NE/4 NW/4. <br />The location of these sections is contained within the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Howard <br />Canyon and Garvey Canyon Quadrangle maps. <br />Revisions to the Permit <br />The following revisions have been submitted since the last midterm review, MT -7, of the <br />McClane Canyon Mine permit application package. <br />Minor Revision No. 50 was issued on April 22, 2014. The revision updated text and Figures in <br />response to the Midterm No. 7. <br />Minor Revision No. 51 was issued on October 27, 2014. The revision approved the construction <br />of a sediment drying area on the construction material stockpile located to the southwest of the <br />sediment pond. The drying area was required due to the sediment pond filling with mostly mud <br />by a storm event occurring on September 9, 2014. <br />Minor Revision No. 52 was issued on February 2, 2015. The revision updated the Identification <br />of Interests section in the McClane Canyon Mine's permit. <br />Minor Revision No. 53 was issued on September 15, 2015. The revision updated the <br />Identification of Interests in the Permit. <br />Minor Revision No. 54 was issued on January 11, 2016. The revision approved to incorporate a <br />revised discharge permit into the mining permit. <br />
