Photo 4. Destroyed concrete V drop structure in East Pit drainage with gully formation and 4064 yd'
lost.
PW,
Photo 5. A different view showing the Monarch Fan Road , the large East Pit gully, and the East Pit
drainage gully with the destroyed concrete V drop structures.
An inspection of the Magpie Creek and the Magpie Diversion drainages shows no deposition of the
massive amount of eroded sediment within the GEC permit area. There are sediment deposits visible on
the adjacent property. However, those deposits are not large enough to account for more than a small
portion of 24,000 yd3. Therefore, the lost sediment has continued farther on downstream.
The gullies exhibit no signs of stability. Erosion and down cutting continue. The gully on the east side
of County Road 92 specifically is getting deeper and wider. The undercut fence that now has dangling
fence posts is a graphic reminder of the widening and erosion process.
