• disturbance will require approximately 11,703 cubic yards of plant growth <br />material. However, only 6,454 cubic yards of plant growth material is available <br />from the two soils units. Therefore, there is a short fall of approximately 15,249 <br />cubic yards. <br />• To address the shortfall, SEMA has two options. <br />➢ Option 1: SEMA will use available plant growth material and augment what <br />is available by using the subsoil material, once the borrow material is <br />removed. This Option may also include amending the plant growth material, <br />as needed, to ensure the resulting composite plant growth material will allow <br />for the establishment of the seeded plant species and ensure the post mining <br />land use, rangeland. (Please see Adequacy Response No. 1, page 73 for <br />details. <br />➢ Option 2: This Option is a combination of Option l and may include the <br />haulback of plant growth material from the offsite CDOT construction project. <br />The material returned to the site will be excess material not needed for the CDOT <br />construction project, clear of any contamination and where noxious weeds are not <br />a significant problem. (This permit application includes a noxious weed control <br />program in the event there is a problem with noxious weed.) <br />• Two topsoil stockpiles are proposed for the borrow site as shown on the Mine <br />Plan Map. <br />• The topsoil stockpiles will only be graded (sloped) and seeded if the stockpiles <br />are to be left for more than 9 months. The stockpiles may be used to store haul <br />back plant growth material till needed for site reclamation. <br />(c) Specify the thickness of overburden or quantity of waste rock, if any, to be <br />removed to reach the deposit. The location of any overburden stockpiles or waste <br />rock fill must be shown on Exhibit E — Map: <br />• This mining operation is a borrow pit. With the exception of the plant growth <br />material removed for site reclamation, all excavated material will be used as <br />borrow material. <br />• The approximate maximum depth of excavation is 20 feet. <br />(d) Specify the thickness of the deposit to be mined: <br />Maximum removal depth will be approximately 3,N feet. We plan to remove up to <br />250,000 cubic yards of material. <br />(e) Describe the major components of the mining operation such as: roads, access <br />routes, pit, office, shop/maintenance buildings, plant, processing facilities, and any <br />underground openings such as edits or ventilation facilities. These components <br />must be located on Exhibit E— Map: <br />All major components are shown on Exhibit E -- Pre -Mine -'Mine Plan Map. <br />The operation will consist of an access road allowing borrow material to be loaded and <br />hauled to the CDOT project construction site. 1t may also be used to haul back plant <br />growth material for site reclamation. The existing access road will be modified as needed <br />to permit safe access off I-25 Frontage Road to the borrow area. The access road will be <br />reclaimed once mining and site reclamation operations are completed. <br />Revised Page 31 <br />
