Number 3 was regraded and a ditch constructed along the side of the
road to carry runoff from the area (Drawing D-4-7).
•
Construction was begun on the road above the storage area with embank-
ments made from mine waste material. All materials from the road were
removed and placed on the refuse disposal area. The road area will be
regraded and revegetated as stated in the Interim Reclamation Plan.
Roads branching off from the public road leading to the facilities
have lockable metal gates and are posted "Private Property". With the
gates locked, the public can pass through the site without access to
the facilities. All segments of private road that are narrow or have
steep outslopes are equipped with steel posts and cable guard rails.
Roads at the mine are traversed daily by a 7,500 -gallon watering truck
during dry periods for dust control. In addition, interim revegeta-
tion will be applied to control erosion.
The number of public vehicles using the county road is small, from
10 recent experience it is estimated that approximately 26 vehicles per
year pass through the mine area due to hunters, campers, and upstream
landowner visits. Beyond the mine, the road is an unimproved track
suitable for only four-wheel drive vehicles. Furthermore, a locked
gate on private land, a short distance upstream, limits use to a
minimum.
W
(33) Supply Areas
The Upper Supply Area is a 1.6 -acre graded storage area where various
types of timber (i.e., mine support beams, cribbing, wedges, etc.) and
scrap metals are stored, while the Lower Supply Area is a 1.3 -acre
graded site storing such mining equipment as motors, conveyor parts,
4-15
