(24) Clean and Raw Coal Silos
is These cylindrical vertical concrete silos, resting on concrete footer
foundations, are used to store clean and raw coal. The 102 -foot tall,
42 -inch diameter structures are completely enclosed, thus there is no
access to the coal inside. They hydraulically -activated chute on the
clean coal silo is normally closed, and the bay where trucks fill up
with coal has electrically -operated lockable doors. The raw coal silo
has lockable steel plate doors. No dust dispersion occurs because the
units are completely enclosed and the coal stored there contains a
minimum of 5 percent surface moisture.
(25) Wash Plant
This building houses coal processing equipment and the coal analysis
laboratory. The wash plant was enlarged on the south side and on top
of the plant during summer, 1980, to increase the handling capacity of
the coal processing facility. Present dimensions are 86 feet, 9
• inches in height by 66 -feet in length by 60 feet in width. The system
uses centrifugal dryers, and the building is eompletely enclosed to
prevent dispersion of dust pollution to the environment. Water
leaving the facility is piped in a closed water system to the upper
and lower settling ponds via 6 -inch schedule 40 pipe. Fire
extinguishers are located on each level of the multi-level structure.
•
(26) Coarse Refuse Bin
This refuse bin is identical to the one described in Item 14, except
that it is smaller in size (13' x 13' x 20' high). The bin is
equipped with a "full" indicator light, and the conveyor carrying
refuse to the bin is equipped with a spray bar. In addition, coal and
refuse that leave the coal processing plant consist of a minimum of 5
percent surface moisture, minimizing threat of dust dispersion.
4-11
