October 17, 2018 C-1981-038/Bowie No. 1 Mine JHB <br /> <br /> <br />Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 3 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 1 <br /> <br /> Page 3 of 6 <br /> <br />The Coal stockpile pond was not inspected this time. <br /> <br />ROADS – Rule 4.03 <br />Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3), Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4), Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and <br />(6)/4.03.2(5) and (6), Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): <br /> Roads throughout the reclaimed areas remain passable with no signs of water ponding on the roads or <br />gully formation. Rock fall continues to deposit on the east mine access road. Since limited vehicle access is <br />permitted on this road, the existing rock fall does not restrict required access. <br /> <br />RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3: <br /> The regraded, and revegetated areas remain in good condition, and ready for winter months. Previously <br />identified weed control needs would benefit from treatment at this time. Specifically treatment on actively <br />growing winter annuals, jointed goatgrass, at the loadout, The out slope on the rail grade at the east end, just north <br />of the fruit orchard has young goatgrass sprouts that should be treated. <br /> <br />The brush pile remains on the south side of the loadout property. Basil indicated that some of the brush may be <br />utilized for ditch management at the Bowie No. 2 mine. <br /> <br />SUPPORT FACILITIES - Rule 4.04: <br /> The load out remains unreclaimed. The operator continues to store supplies and equipment at the site. <br />Bowie Resources continues to maintain the area. Other than weed management, there were not maintenance items <br />identified at the load out during this visit. <br /> <br /> <br />DOCUMENTS RECEIVED NA <br />OTHER (SPECIFY) NA <br /> <br />ENFORCEMENT ACTIONS/COMPLIANCE <br /> <br />No enforcement actions were initiated as a result of this inspection, nor are any pending. <br />
