1600 West 12th Ave
DENVER WATER 3036286, 80204-3412
03 000
idenverwoter org
October 8, 2018
Mr. Eric Scott
Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215
Denver, Colorado 80203
RE: Technical Revision to M-2004-078 for Conveyor Bridge
Dear Mr. Scott:
Denver Water is writing to submit the attached technical revision to the Lupton
Lakes Resource, Permit No. M-2004-078. To facilitate mining at Lupton Lakes
Resource, Martin Marietta is requesting to extend a conveyor bridge across Highway
85 to connect the mining area to their processing area west of the South Platte River
associated with mining Permit No. M-2000-016. Martin Marietta said that they
briefly discussed this with you and Peter Hays.
The conveyor bridge is being designed by Martin Marietta in coordination with
Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Federal Highway
Administration (FHWA). Attached are the 30% plans approved by CDOT. They will
be completing a 60% set shortly and then it will go to FHWA for 90% and final
approval. Construction will all be coordinated with CDOT/FHWA and Martin
Marietta will have to bond for the project with CDOT and maintain a financial
warranty through the life of its use. For this reason, it is Denver Water's
understanding that this can be done as a technical revision. The only portion of the
project falling in our permit boundary is a caisson and pillar/stair structure, which
will remain on the property through the completion of reclamation. CDOT will then
require the caisson and pillar/stair structure be removed. Martin Marietta will
remain compliant with the applicable Fort Lupton Special Use permit.
Also included is a revised mining plan, showing the general location of the caisson
and pillar, as well as an aerial photo to show a more general depiction of the
conveyor across the two permits. Please give me a call (303-628-6539), if additional
information is needed.
Sin erely, .
l
yan S t
Downstream Reservoir Water Storage Program Manager
