EXHIBIT L WORST CASE RECLAMATION SCENARIO
Mining at the Box Creek Placer Mine will mine an additional 170 (unmined as of April 2018)
acres of land and, combined with redisturbance of previously mined area, a total of 300 disturbed
acres will exist over the course of the mines `second' life. At any given time, a maximum of 30
acres of ground will be disturbed broken into three 10 acre areas: the previously mined area in
reclamation not to exceed 10 acres, the current 10 acre mining and processing area, and another
<10 acres in preparation of mining. An additional approximately 10 acre settling pond and
processing area will require topsoiling and seeding. The previously mined area in reclamation
will already have overburden placement and grading, topsoil application, and will only require
seeding in the worst case scenario. The active mining and processing area will require
backfilling, grading, topsoil placement, and seeding. While the future mining area will require
topsoil and seeding in the case that disturbance in that area has begun.
By using on-site excavated materials, the distance that topsoil and overburden will have to be
transported as well as the amount of material that will have to be rehandled will be minimized.
Additionally, the acreage that is unreclaimed will be minimized and will make the worst case
reclamation smaller and thus a smaller bond will result.
Given the length of time it will take to mine this entire site (24 years),the Operator will not
phase the operation and the bond. Bond costs and related tasks can be seen in the list and table
below.
• Mobilization of equipment<45 miles = $6,000.00.
• Sediment settling pond grading=4 inches of topsoil resurfacing over 15 acres= 8,067
CY at$1.50/CY= $12,100.50.
• Active mining area backfilling(approximately 20 feet over 1 active mining acre) and
grading to 3H:1 V. Roughly 32,267 CY of dozer work at$0.50/CY = $16,133.00.
• Topsoil surfacing=20 acres at 4 inches deep = 10,756 CY at$1.50/CY = $16,134.00.
• Rangeland revegetation = 30 acres + 15 acres, $820/acre rangeland seed mix=
$36,900.00.
Garrett Pit Gin 1. kki and Associates.P1.1.f
September 2018 L-1
