More frequent changing of mats generally results in a
higher recovery. This is offset by the economics of the operation. Removal of the mats results
in a plant shut down for a period. This shut down reduces the overall throughput of the plant and
adds costs to the operation for transport of the mats to for finishing and processing costs for final
concentrate production.
Miner's moss will be collected at the end of each mining shift. Mats are washed with water at
the mine site to remove the gravity concentrate. This concentrate is then processed using a
custom jig and table finishing plant.
