Biological Resource Review
Black Mountain Sands, LLC
Table 1. Federally Listed Species Identified as Potentially Occurring in Study Area
Common Name Scientific Name Status' Preliminary Analysis within the Study Area 2
BIRDS
Least tern Sterna FIE The Study Area is located within the Upper South Platte River
ontillorum Basin. Based on the USFWS IPaC Report, this species is only
required for consideration if water-related activities or use
would occur within the North Platte,South Platte,or Laramie
River Basins. As a result, potential indirect impacts to the
species in Nebraska (downstream of site-specific use)may
occur as a result of Project implementation. Consultation with
the USFWS Colorado Ecological Services Field Office is
recommended to determine if impacts are anticipated, and if
mitigation would be required.
Mexican spotted Strix FT The species has not been documented in Weld County. In
owl occidentalis addition, suitable habitat for the species(i.e., caves, cliff
lucida ledges in steep-walled canyons, and montane forested areas)
is not present within the Study Area. Therefore, no impacts to
this species or its associated habitat are anticipated.
Piping plover Charadrius FT The Study Area is located within the Upper South Platte River
melodus Basin.
