3.1.8) Mining activities will take into account the safety and protection of wildlife on the mine
site. Please see Exhibit H for additional information regarding wildlife on the affected
lands.
3.1.9)
1)As applicable, topsoil will be removed and segregated in vegetated stockpiles.
2)Woody vegetation (as applicable) will be removed or appropriately incorporated into
the existing topsoil prior to excavation within the affected areas.
3)Topsoil stockpiles will be kept to the mining perimeters or other areas that will be
minimally disturbed and will be properly stabilized to minimize erosion.
4)Topsoil will remain undisturbed until used in concurrent or final reclamation unless
through means of Board or Office approval.
5)Appropriate grading and texturing measures will be taken to maximize the stability of
topsoil soils.
6)Should the Board or Office deem existent topsoil quality insufficient or poor for
sustaining vegetation and if other materials can be shown to be more suitable for
vegetation requirements, the Operator will remove, segregate, and preserve in a like
manner such other materials which are best able to support vegetation. The operator
plans to revegetate the land in general conformance with the surrounding land and
pursuant to recommendations from Weld County and the local conservation district.
7)Growing media will be replaced as evenly as possible and other amendments shall be
added if deemed necessary.
8)The operator will remove vegetative piles from the affected lands.
3.1.10)
1) Revegetation such that it matches the natural vegetation of the surrounding area will
be established in such a way as to establish a diverse, effective, and long-lasting
vegetative cover that is capable of self-regeneration without continued dependence
on irrigation, soil amendments or fertilizer.
2) Forest is not the Operator's choice for reclamation.
3)The land shall be returned to slopes that are no steeper than 3:1 and easily
traversable by livestock.
4)The Operator will consider environmental and biological factors to ensure the
greatest probability of success in plant establishment and vegetation development.
5)The Operator will employ techniques such as discing to prepare the soil and will apply
amendments such as fertilizer and irrigation as necessary to ensure the
establishment of diverse and long-lasting vegetative cover.
6)The Operator will employ appropriate methods of weed control for all prohibited
noxious weed species as necessary.
7)The operator will build fire lanes or access roads through the area to be planted when
necessary.
8)The Operator will seed & plant for reclamation when the area is no longer in use, and
will follow normal stabilization measures of surfaces where planting is not required.
9)The Operator will evaluate the characteristics of the surface and will take all
reasonable measures to facilitate plant growth.
