Mr. Bill Bear of Bowie Resources
accompanied the inspection. Mr. Bear announced that he would be retiring at the end of the month. Basil Bear
will be the contact for Bowie No. 2 mine when Bill is no longer at the mine. The Division wishes Bill a good
retirement.

The area has been very dry through the month of September so far. The weather was cloudy with a light rain
during a portion of the morning. The rain was enough to cool the temperatures, and wet the surface of the ground.
No runoff was observed during or immediately after the rain.

The mine is in Temporary Cessation, and other than maintenance work and shipping equipment and mining
materials to out of state operations, no mining activity is occurring.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS – Rule 5.02.4(1):
Mine records were checked in the mine office. Availability of Records form is attached to this report.
Second quarter gob pile report was not located in the mine records, though it has been received by the Division.
Other records are up to date.

BACKFILL and GRADING – Rule 4.14
Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6:
Hubbard Creek reclaimed vent shaft slope was stable and not showing evidence of erosion. The operator
left the surface intentionally roughened, with microsites that encourage vegetation establishment. The reclaimed
slope has a good establishment of boxelder trees.

FISH and WILDLIFE – Rule 4.18:
A young mule deer leapt across the main haul road below the B portal bench. The operator was able to
avoid the deer. Posted speed limits were being observed.
