The Applicant shall be responsible for compliance with this SWSP, but
the State Engineer's Office ("SEO")may also pursue the landowner, for eventual compliance. The required fee
of$1,593 for the SWSP has been paid (receipt no. 3680380).
SWSP Operations
The Frey Hatchery Pit is permitted for 53.2 acres and is located in the SW1/4, Section 20, Township 2
South, Range 67 West of the 61h P.M. (Figure 1). The property includes a 6.5-acre pond and a 0.3 acre pond
that were exposed prior to 1981. The estimated reserve of sand and gravel at the site is approximately 2.5
million tons and wilt be excavated into two phases. The operator has installed a slurry wall around a separate
6.5 acres within Phase 1 area that is located south of the existing pre-81 pond. The Applicant is in the process
of conducting a leak test for the Phase 1 liner. You indicated that the excavation is planned after the liner
leak test has been successfully completed and approved by the SEO. The Phase 1 mining is expected to be
completed by the end of 2017 or beginning of 2018. Phase 2 will begin after Phase 1 has been completed. The
excavation of Phase 2 will occur above the ground water table since the depth to ground water is
approximately 17 feet.
This SWSP seeks to replace depletions resulting from the mining of Phase 1 and 2, The depletions that
result from the mining operation over the first two years of existence include evaporation from exposed
ground water, dust suppression, dewatering, and water lost with the mined product. The life expectancy of
the Frey Hatchery Pit is approximately 3-5 years. The proposed reclamation of the site is a combination of
pre-1981 exposed surface area and backfill of the mining cells. The Applicant proposes to replace out-of-
priority lagged depletions from the mining operation using fully consumable water from the City of Aurora.
p4.00<O
Office of the State Engineer
1313 Sherman Street, Room 821, Denver,CO 80203 P 303.866,3581 y
www.water.state.co.us * *
'1876
