6.1.3 Highwall Reclamation Recommendations
The following inexpensive and simple techniques should be incorporated into the South and
West Quarry Reclamation Plan.
On benches above El. 7,000 feet where topsoil backfilling and revegetation is permit
required, several rockfall benches should be left open. GEI envisions this consisting of a 5 to
10-foot zone free of reclamation material every 3-4 benches. This material free zone would
reduce the potential for rocks"weathered loose" from slopes above the bench from gaining
energy and propagating down(rolling)to the active mine areas, reducing the risk to mine
personnel and infrastructure.
Quarterly scaling of final slopes below 7000 will reduce the potential for overhead hazards.
Scaling identifies instability in rocks within the highwall and removes the hazard utilizing
various techniques under a controlled environment.
Aggregate Industries Morrison Quarry GEI Consultants,Inc.
AM-06 Geotechnical Stability Exhibit 42 August 2018
