Permit Number C1981028 Prepared by: R. Reilley, MS, GISP
SL9 5

areas required addressing.

The DRMS utilized a “Bad Elf” GNSS measurement instrument to collect location data that incudes
elevation information. The Bad Elf provided a benchmark elevation value of 4752.06 feet above sea level,
while the known mine measurement for this control point, #1111, is 4813.92 feet above sea level,
representing a differential of 61.86 feet lower for the Bad Elf. This 61.86 foot discrepancy was adjusted
for using the orthometric height calculator to convert GPS measurements to height above mean sea level
(HMSL) and adding 18.94 meters for Geoid Height bringing the HMSL for this point to 4814.19, well
within an accurate measurement when compared to the known benchmark.

Map 1: Overview of the Keenesburg mine. The current permit boundary is shown in dark red and the areas for
the SL9 bond release are shown in orange. The circles represent points collected to verify approximate original
contour.
