Spring 2018 Subsidence and Geologic Field Observations
South of Divide and Dry Fork Mining Areas
MVB. Figure 5 shows these cracks and the depression created between them that indicates that
this may be settlement over the mud pit.
Figure 5. Spring 2018 northern view of two north/south cracks that appear to be
associated with settlement over the previous location of the mud pit used to drill the
MVB.
4.4.3 Location 3
The eastern end of Traverse D -D is the E7-8 MVB pad, which is located mostly on a ridge with
minimal cut and fill. During our spring 2018 field visit, a relatively wide (24 inches maximum)
crack was observed north of the trailer (Figure 6). Due to the relative lack of fill placed on this
portion of the pad, it does not appear to be the result of differential settlement. This crack is about
three feet deep at its maximum and about 10 feet long in an east/west orientation. Other
miscellaneous cracks are visible on the pad but appear to have no specific consistent orientation
and all are short, shallow, and do not extend beyond the edge of the pad.
831-032.900 Wright Water Engineers, Inc.
