Deep Cut LLC- 22 West Pit Page 4
Adequacy response 02 Permit # M-2017-032
I have corrected this throughout the text so it is consistent with the timetable. You may
notice, that some of the numbers have changed. When I went back and started measuring
and checking numbers I found they did not match the areas shown on the map and balance
to the 38.35 acre total permit area. I added a small section of text explaining Options 1 &
2 before the Mining Plan Timetable to help clarify what I tried to propose in the first
adequacy response. A set of pages showing the changed areas highlighted yellow is
included and I supplied complete copies of Exhibit b - Mining Plan and Exhibit E -
Reclamation Plan packets for the file.
Exhibit E—Reclamation Plan (Rule 6.4.5):
5) The revised reclamation plan states that for Option 1, the excavated shorelines will not be
retopsoiled as no topsoil will be available on site if the pre-law area to the northeast will
not be redisturbed. The plan also indicates the shorelines will not be revegetated. The
Applicant proposes reclaiming new shorelines by sloping and grading only.
Please be advised, while other disturbed areas, such as the plant site, could remain for
industrial use without retopsoiling and revegetating, all pond shorelines shall either be
retopsoiled and revegetated or stabilized with riprap or other means.
Please revise the reclamation plan to include one of the above mentioned options for
reclamation of pond shorelines, and remove any language indicating shorelines will not
be reclaimed beyond sloping requirements. Please indicate the estimated volume of
material (topsoil or riprap)to be used for reclamation, the anticipated source for the
material (generated on site or imported), and the haul/push distance (if generated on site)
or approximate travel distance between the source and the mine site (if to be imported).
It has been decided that to be consistent with the proposed Reclamation Plan, any areas
above water along where mining takes placed will be resoiled using an average of 6 inches
of growth medium and seeded for a distance of 25 feet from the water line or to the
permit line which ever is greater. A 3.82 acres area on the southern side of the old Plant
Site will be graded and left as industrial area. The roads shown on the Reclamation Plan
Maps will remain after reclamation to provide landowner access around the lake.
For Option 1 this means that 4.03 acres ± will be resoiled and seeded needing
approximately 3,300 cubic yards of growth medium. For Option 2 the area needing resoil
and seeding is 2.24 acres ± and 1,800 cubic yards ± will be needed. There is adequate
growth medium on the mine area so none will need to be imported. For both options, areas
needing resoiling will be graded, shaped and resoiled once they will not be disturbed again
by mining so that no more then 350 feet of mining face sloping, and 0.50 acres of resoiling
and seeding would be required. As noted in the Reclamation Plan, growth medium will be
