The GEC Mine was a surface mine which the
Division has revoked the bond and terminated the permit. Therefore, no mine operator remains. All bond monies
available to the Division were utilized by the Divisin for reclamation activitries and no reclamation bond money
remains to conduct maintenance activities. The weather was clear and ground conditions were muddy and
saturated. Temperatures during the inspection were around seventy five degrees fahrenheit.

On June 23, 2018, a large precipitation event occurred at the mine. For the day, a total of 1.68 inches of
percipitation was measured at Florence, CO (located approximately 8 miles northwest of the mine) with 1.43
inches of precipitation measure over an hour.
AVAILABILITY OF RECORDS – Rule 5.02.4(1):
This is a bond forfeiture site and all applicable records are maintained by the Division.

HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
As stated early in this report, a large precipitation event occurred at the mine in a short period. For more
information, please refer to the Slides and Other Damage section of this report.

RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
Given the intense storm, the majority of the reclaimed slopes showed no signs of additional erosion. Vegetation
along the East and West Pit areas, North Area, Orphan Mine and Tipple Area is well established and contributed
to the stabilization of the surficial material along the slopes associated with each of the area.

SLIDES and DAMAGE - Rule 4.12:
Due to the intensity of the rain in relatively short span of time, large erosional cuts occurred along the ditch
located at the northern facing foot of Chen’s Hill. The drainage for this area normally reports to Pond A located
next to the gated entrance to the site. However, with Pond A previously filled with sediment, sediment backed up
along the ditch before water eventually flowed along and across the road adjacent to Chen’s Hill before flowing
