Phase 1 and Phase 2 Bonding
The Debeque Sand and Gravel Resource consists of mining pits (currently two are active) and
the associated land disturbance around them. The current total active pit area is 5.5 acres_ This
includes both the current Phase 1 pit, which is being backfilled, and the Phase 2 pit, which is still
being excavated. United will expand this total pit arca to up to € 0 acres. All backfill volumes in
the bond calculation are based on these 10 acres of mined out pit.
There are roughly 20.5 acres of disturbance on the site in total, including stockpiles and internal
hauling areas, The mining and reclamation plan for Phases 1 and 2 calls for complete backfill of
the pits to two feet above the water table, and then topsoiling and revegetating of all disturbed
areas. The Phase I and 2 bond must therefore include the following:
• Dcwatcring a up to 10 acres of pit area to a depth of 25'. The 10 acres may be split
among multiple pits onsite.
• Backfilling up to 10 acres of pit arca to two feet above the ground water table. The 10
acres may be split among multiple pits onsite.
• Topsoiling all Phase I and 2 disturbed areas. This is limited to the current disturbance of
20.5 acres.
• Rcvegctating (seeding and mulching) all of the Phase I and 2 disturbed areas_ This is
limited to the current disturbance of 20.5 acres.
2. Phase 3 Bonding
Mining and reclamation in Phase 3 will continue the concurrent reclamation on site, and thus %vill
lead to the complete filling of Phases 1 and 2 to two feet above the water table. However, this
process will remove material from Phase 3 and thus leave the fnial phase with a deficit of
DeBeque&ardand Grmel 1 X r.,ruia,,,;wtaoa1--k -n.Ia.
