29 May 2018 C-1994082 Yoast Mine RAR <br /> <br /> <br />3 <br />Number of Partial Inspections this Fiscal Year: 8 <br />Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3 <br /> <br />gauge inside the flume, representing substantial discharge. Discharge was clear (photos 1, 2). <br />o Pond 12 discharges frequently and the discharge observed appeared clear. No issues were noted <br />at spillway culvert and flume (photo 3). <br />o Pond 12 A was constructed to prevent pond 12 from filling with sediment too quickly thereby <br />minimizing dredging operations. No issues were noted at time of inspection. <br />o Pond 13 appeared full. This pond does not generally discharge, it was however discharging at <br />the time of inspection (photos 5 and 6). Discharge appeared clear. <br />o Pond 14 is surrounded by phase I reclamation. There is a slide above the pond. All slopes <br />appeared stable at time of inspection (photo 7). <br />o Various reconstructed drainages were observed. They appeared well armored and stable. No <br />issues were noted at time of inspection. <br />o Reconstructed Drainage PM6 was walked. This drainage is located on the east edge of the site <br />in Phase II reclamation. A spring exists at the gabion (photo 4). <br />o Ponds observed appeared to have adequate water clairity. <br /> <br />SLIDES and OTHER DAMAGE- Rule 4.12 <br />Several slides and slumped areas exist around the site. It appears that these are generally associated <br />with settling and no recent movement was detected at the time of inspection/ <br />o An old slump was noted above Pond 14 (photo 7). It appears stable and no recent signs of <br />movement were noted at the time of inspection. <br />o No recent movement or areas of instability were noted at any of the slide or slumped areas <br />observed. <br /> <br />TOPSOIL -Rule 4.06 <br />Removal 4.06.2; Substitute Materials 4.06.4(4); Storage and Protection 4.06.3; Redistribution <br />4.06.4: <br />o Reclamation appeared stable and vegetation appeared vigorous and well <br />established. <br /> <br />REVEGETATION - Rule 4.15 <br />General Requirements 4.15.1; <br />o Numerous shrub and tree plots were observed, all exhibiting vigorous growth with well <br />established trees and shrub exhibiting a diversity of species. <br />o Reclamation and revegetation appeared to be progressing adequately with well established <br />vegetation. <br />o No extensive areas devoid of vegetation were noted. <br />o No areas of weed infestations were noted. <br /> <br /> RECLAMATION- Rule 4.1 <br />General Requirements 4. <br />Observed the area known as “ET’s Head”, a phase III bond released area (photo 8). <br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
