DESIGN FEATURES — GCC Energy, LLC has committed to these and other <br />design features as described in the environmental assessment, DOI-BLM-CO-SO10-2014- <br />0025. <br />A. General <br />1. The land owner will be notified prior to implementation of the proposed project. <br />2. GCC will comply with the standards provided at 43 CFR 3484. 1 (Performance <br />Standardsfor Exploration) and with all applicable requirements of the surface <br />management agency. <br />3. Vehicles and equipment will be cleaned prior to arrival at the drilling sites. <br />4. No construction or routine maintenance activities will occur during periods when soil <br />is too wet to support construction equipment adequately. If such equipment creates ruts <br />in excess of 6 inches deep, then soil shall be deemed too wet. <br />5. All employees, contractors, and sub -contractors of the project will be informed by <br />the project proponent that cultural sites are to be avoided by all personnel, personal <br />vehicles, and company equipment; and that it is illegal to collect, damage, or disturb <br />cultural resources; and that such activities are punishable by criminal and or <br />administrative penalties under the provisions of the Archaeological Resources Protection <br />Act (16 USC 470aa-mm). <br />6. GCC or contracted personnel are required to have a safety meeting and be informed <br />of potential interaction with livestock and wildlife and precautions required during <br />construction activities at drilling locations. <br />7. Vehicular traffic would be restricted to the authorized areas and existing roads. <br />8. Straw wattles would be utilized, as necessary, to prevent erosion. <br />9. If any hazardous wastes are used or encountered during exploration activities, they <br />would be handled and disposed of according to federal law. Any non -hazardous solid <br />waste generated in the proposed drilling sites would be stored in appropriate containers <br />and disposed of at a permitted facility when necessary. <br />10. A red-tailed hawk (Bllleojamaicel Isis) nest located within 500 feet of the proposed <br />GCC -14-01 drill- hole, will be monitored for nesting activity during <br />construction/drilling. If the nest is active,construction and drilling operations could be, <br />put off until the young have fledged. This would eliminate the chances of the nest beji#g <br />impacted. r-" .I <br />n <br />2 <br />
