RECLAMATION PLAN EXHIBIT F(CONT)
is currently covered with gravel so only grading and shaping will
be needed to stabilize it for future use .
The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) report in EXHIBIT
I/J -SOILS AND VEGETATION section indicates that most of the undis-
turbed area on this site should have a native grass cover, but
due to the past uses the site has very little native vegetation.
We estimate that in the area where a vegetation cover is present
it is about 10% grass and the remaining vegetation is weeds .
Under normal conditions, the operator will strive for a 30 to 40
percent cover rate on the revegetated areas when reclamation is
complete .
Careful analysis of the growth medium and salvageable soil will
permit the operator to implement a soil additive program and to
monitor the prescribed seeding plan to determine if the plan
requires revision. Under normal weather conditions, an adequate
moisture reserve will be present for establishment of the pro-
posed seed mixture . No irrigation will be used during reclama-
tion since the plan is to establish a vegetation cover that is
not dependent on irrigation to survive .
REVEGETATION PROGRAM
The revegetation program to be implemented is detailed below and
applies to the setback areas and slopes around the area mined as
shown on the reclamation plan map .
REVEGETATION INFORMATION
The topsoiling plan presented earlier and the revegetation
program are devised after careful review of the existing soil
conditions and present vegetation, both on site and in the
reports contained in the SOILS AND VEGETATION section. Revegetation
will be carried out in such a way, so as to establish a diverse,
effective and long-lasting vegetative cover that is capable of
self-regeneration without continued dependence on irrigation,
soil amendments or fertilizers .
The plan is designed to create a vegetative cover that is at
least equal in extent to the cover of the natural vegetation
before mining since the area was a melon field that was plowed
yearly. The revegetation plan provides for the greatest proba-
bility of success in plant establishment and vegetative develop-
13
