Deep Cut LLC - 22 West Pit Page 2
Adequacy response 01 Permit # M-2017-032
After we talked about the scaling problems for the Exhibit A map you withdrew this
question, so I prepared a second map labeled Map Exhibit B-1 Location Map that
shows the location of the mine in relation to surrounding towns and features.
Exhibit B— Index Map (Rule 6.4.2):
4) To better show the regional location of the affected land, please submit a replacement map that
indicates the location of the nearest city, Rocky Ford, and labels the Arkansas River.
I revised Map Exhibit B to show the mines location in relation to Rocky Ford and labeled
the Arkansas River, CR 22 and HWY 50.
Exhibit C — Pre-Mining and Mining Plan Map(s) of Affected Land (Rule 6.4.3):
5) Please submit replacement map(s) with the following corrections:
a. Show the name and location of Co Rd 22.
b. Show the owner's name, type of structure, and location of Co Rd 22 to the east, the ditch and
fencing present to the north, the barbed wire fence present to the west, and the overhead electric lines
and fencing present to the south.
It appears that I left the improvements label layer turned off on this map which has been
corrected. All of the structures are now labeled as on Map Exhibit C-1. I fixed the labels
for the power line and the southern structures are now noted. I also added the Structure
owner and list from Exhibit S to the map for reference.
6) Additionally, please provide the following clarifications regarding the two maps submitted in this
exhibit:
a. The Exhibit C 1 —Mining Plan Map indicates "Reclaimed—New/Existing" areas both inside and
outside of the proposed permit boundary, colored green. Please provide clarification for why these
areas are shown on the mining plan map, why one section is located outside of the proposed southern
permit boundary, and if the existing reclaimed areas will be redisturbed by the operation.
The C-1 Map is intended to show the area when partially mined and reclaimed. After
looking at the printed version of the map, I realized that at this time in the life of the mine
there will be no topsoil present to use on the above water slopes in that area. It should
not have been colored light green from the pre-law dirt pile area west. Currently the north
shore of the existing lake is reclaimed by grading and shaping only since there is no
growth medium available until/unless operations move into the pre-law dirt pile area. I
also included the pre-law concrete wash out area that was not on the original maps.
On the south side, the colored area outside the permit area, was a mistake as it will NOT
be redisturbed. I intended to show the very narrow band where the 2 lakes were
connected. The area between the new lake area and the permit line was not redisturbed.
That color of green should match the currently revegetated shore lines along the south
and east side of the pre-law dirt pile area where it was not redisturbed. I fixed this and
also found and fixed the county road label on this map.
b. The Exhibit C1 —Mining Plan Map includes a cross-section at the top-right corner which appears to
show a proposed grading plan for pond shorelines. Please provide a title for this cross-section.
