Reclamation Unit: East end of South Berm. This area has mounds of what looks like overburden
mixed with some soil that has been stacked on top of an unreclaimed cut face that is very steep to nearly
vertical. Its east end is adjacent to and south of the erosion area just described above. Both of these
areas could be reclaimed at the same time.
The piles of material on the top can be pushed over the edge to bury the cut face. All of the
material down to the original surface will be deposited over the cut face. The top of the area where the
piles were located will be very gently sloped to the north -just a couple of degrees is all that is needed so
rainwater that falls on the top of the area flows northward rather than southward toward the privacy
fences that are a short distance to the south.
To finish the slope, soil and overburden from the North Berm will be hauled to here, as needed,
and spread over the covered cut face to finish creating a 3:1 slope from the top to the bottom. Care will
be exercised to not create a steep section at the top of the slope but rather the slope will be uniform from
top to bottom or even less steep at the bottom. That is, the top of the slope will be no steeper than 3:1,
although the lower parts of the slope can be less steep. Soil will be at least 6" deep at the top of the slope
and can be deeper on the lower slopes as needed to create the proper slope grade. But nowhere shall the
soil be less than 6" deep.
The south side of the berm here begins as a fairly low rise on the east that rapidly gets higher to
the west. This slope must also be reduced to 3:1 in a way that does not interfere with water flow along
the north side of the privacy fence or is up against the fence.
The toe of the eastern end of this filling and grading on the north slope will be blended with the
gradual slope from the finished southeast erosion area described previously where the two meet near the
floor of the pit.
Vollmer Pit Technical Revision June 2018 Updated Reclamation Plan Page 11 of 26
