EXHIBIT E RECLAMATION PLAN (CONT)
After recontouring the substratum will be scarified with a
ripper. Topsoil from the adjoining piles will be respread over
all disturbed areas to a depth of at least 6" in preparation of a
uniform seed bed. A 18-46-0 fertilizer will be spread over the
topsoil at the rate of 200 lbs acre . The fertilizer shall be
disced or scratched into the soil surface . The site will be
seeded by the County with a mixture of native grasses and forbs
recommended by the BLM. The seed mixture recommended in 2018 by
the BLM is provided below. Seed shall either be drill seeded or
shall be broadcast seeded into fresh dozer cleats . If broadcast
the seed will be doubled and dragged or raked thoroughly to set
the seed. Seeding will occur after October 1st and prior to soil
freeze-up or any accumulations of snow. A weed free straw or
native hay mulch will be blown or spread over all disturbed areas
at a rate of 2000 lbs per acre. Mulch shall either be crimped
into the soil, tacked down with a tackifier or blown on as a
hydro-mulch.
Grand County will monitor the site on a monthly basis to
determine revegetation success and to evaluate the site
stability. Grand County will take any steps necessary to control
soil erosion and repair damaged lands . If after one season the
seeding looks as though it will be a failure, Grand County will
reseed the site or portions of the site in accordance with this
plan. After final reclamation approval by the BLM and the State .
Grand County will remove any County installed improvements such
as gates, fences and signs .
Grand County has a weed control department and will utilize this
department to control any noxious weeds that may occur on the
site .
AMENDMENT 3 - Seedmix Change
The original proposed seedmix was changed by the BLM in the
new contract, The added Slender Wheatgrass and removed the Yellow
Sweetclover and Sheep Fescue and decrease the amount from 12 . 5
#/ac to 10 . The seed mix to be used on the mine is shown below.
This mix is used on all of the mine including the soil piles if
needed. The 1995 Reclamation Plan discusses mulching and
fertilizer application for the site and will be applied to the
new area.
BLM APPROVED/REQUIRED SEED MIX
Species Lbs/Acre
Bluebunch Wheatgrass (Golda) 3 . 00
Western Wheatgrass (Arriba) 3 . 00
Slender Wheatgrass (Revenue) 3 . 00
Canby bluegrass 1. 00
TOTALS 10 . 00
Using this mixture will provide approximately 48.0 seeds per square foot.
10
