RECLAMATION PLAN EXHIBIT D
1. General Reclamation Plan
The total original disturbed area of the permit was approximately 9.90 acres, which is the full
permit area. As shown on Map C-2, the entire north side of the permit has been reclaimed to
feature a wildlife pond (North Pond) with a wetland fringe and dry rangeland on the surrounding
area.
The South Pond and the surrounding fringe area will require reclamation. This reclamation will
be achieved by dozing the stockpiled overburden into the pond perimeter(which is 1500 feet) to
a slope of 3H:1 V from ground level to an elevation 5 feet below water level. The depth below
this may be a maximum of 2H:IV. This volume is approximately 11,000 cubic yards. The
material is available adjacent to the pond edges so the push distance is minimal and the material
will be moved down at a gradient of 20%.
The South Pond area is a total of 4.36 acres less the 2.66 acres of pond area, which leaves an area
of 1.70 acres of land to be topsoiled. Adding 0.2 acres for topsoiling below water level results in
a total area of topsoiling of 1.90 acres. At a depth of 6 inches, this is a volume of 1532 cubic
yards. When this work is completed on the South Pond area, the final reclamation will result in a
post-mine land use of wildlife habitat.
Seeding and mulching will occur on the 1.7 acres above water level. Of this amount, wetland
seeding will occur on a 10 feet wide fringe over the perimeter of the Pond which results in an
area of 10 ft x 1500 ft= 15,000 sq. ft= 0.34 acres. This area will be done by broadcast seeding.
The remaining area of 1.36 acres will be seeded with the dry range mix shown below.
2. Haul Roads and Access
The access road will continue around the pit to the east and to the currently excavated mining
area. This access road will not be reclaimed at the end of mining to allow access through the site.
Olathe Pit, 2018
