The purpose of this inspection was to collect
vegetation cover and herbaceous production data on the reclaimed areas of the Fruita No. 1 and 2 Mines. The
Minehas had its permit revoked and remaining bond was used to complete reclamation tasks by the Division.The
final reclamation tasks were completed in 2009. This sampling effort represents the 9th year since the last
seeding. Clayton Wein, Brock Bowles and Zach Trujillo assisted in the sampling effort.

The weather was dry and sunny during the sampling. However, the region had received approximately 1 inch of
precipitation the preceding week.
FISH and WILDLIFE – Rule 4.18:
Although no deer were observed on the site, ample deer scat was noted on the reclaimed haul road.
Songbirds, collared lizards, and small Plateau lizards were observed during the sampling.

HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05
Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10;
Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13;
Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zones 4.05.18:
The mine site was dry, and no water was held in the pond. Recent sediment in the remaining pond has
reduced the vegetative cover in the pond. All culverts have been removed from the site.

RECLAMATION SUCCESS - Rule 4.15, Rule 3:
The reclaimed vegetation is similar to the surrounding undisturbed area. The reclaimed haul road and
portal bench are constructed in the Book cliffs with a South facing exposure. The area is in a desert environment.
Although there are some gullies on the reclaimed roadway, due to the rough surface, the gullies do not extend very
far, and appear to be self-healing. Sedimentation off the site is not apparent.
