Arnold Gravel Pit <br />Dear Mr. Dorenkamp, <br />Thank you for the opportunity to provide input an the project listed above_ Orae of our goals at <br />Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPWj is to provide complete, consistent and Nmety Information to all <br />entities who request comment on matters within our statutory authority and our mission --which is to <br />protect, preserve, enhance and manage wildlife and their environment for the use, benefit, and <br />enjoyment of the people of Colorado and its visitors_ <br />Without a mining and reclamation project plan, CPW Is unable to provide comment on impacts to <br />wildlife and wildlife habitat that may occur from this proposal. However, we have provided a list of <br />plant species that are currently present In the area, as well as a list of wildlife species that potentially <br />utilize the area. <br />District Wildlife Manager Natalie Renneker visited the site on December 22, 2017, which Is located at <br />Township 28S Range 52W Section 28, which is off of Las Animas County Road 76.9. DWM Renneker <br />observed the following at the site: <br />• Site was mostly comprised of grasses and (orbs, with a high prevalence of blue grama, as well <br />as the presence of buffalo grass, cholla cactus, soapweed, sunflower, and thistle <br />• Evidence of the site being utilized by deer, rabbit, coyote and Passerine birds <br />The site may have a variety of wildlife species that utilize the area throughout the year: <br />• Big game species Including deer, elk, black bear, and mountain lion <br />• Small game or furbearer species Including but not limited to. turkey, rabbit, coyote, bobcat, <br />red/gray/swift fox species, badger, and raccoon <br />• Bird species Including meadowlark, northern flicker, American kestret, northern harrier, red. <br />tail hawk, scaled quail, and other passerine/songbird species <br />As stated earlier, Colorado Parks and Wildlife will be able to provide comment on impacts to wildlife <br />and wildlife habitat that may occur once they have received a mining and reclamation project <br />Proposal. <br />Please call District Wildlife Manager Natalie Renneker at (719)980.0025 with questions. <br />Sincerely, <br />ava <br />Natalie Renneker <br />District Wildlife Manager <br />[faD U. arosmee, ovrau. iunam vans ab w/dite .
