Dollar Amount Requested for Release: $ 49,121.12
13. Legal Description of Area Requested: Portions of:
Township 7 South, Range 102 West, 6th P.M.
Section 22: S/2NE/4, SW/4, S/2SW/4, NE/4/SW/4
Section 27: SW/4, NW/4NW/4
Section 28: N/2S/2, S/2N/2, N/2NE/4
Section 29: S/2NE/4
14. A Map Showing Areas: A map of Mine Site is enclosed. See Exhibit 1.
15. Dates Reclamation Work Performed: 2006, 2007 and 2014
16. A description of results achieved: During 2006 a 1.6 -acre light use road located in Munger Canyon
was contoured and seeded. The mine portal area, haul road and coal mine waste disposal area were
contoured and seeded during 2007. A 0.1 -acre area associated with a culvert removal was
contoured and seeded during 2014.
Based on a vegetation evaluation performed during May and June 2013, a demonstration was made
that untreated drainage from the reclaimed areas do not contribute additional suspended solids
above natural conditions. Review of collected data from 2016 and 2017 demonstrates the success
and utility of the revegetated area, especially given vegetative ground cover and favorable results
with regard to production and woody plant density. The field studies have shown that the target
reclaimed plant communities have progressed sufficiently to be meet Phase III bond release
requirements. Ground cover of perennial plants within the reclaimed area is comparable to
adjacent undisturbed native communities and plant succession is occurring and progressing in a
positive direction, indicating that plants are self-sustaining.
The 2013 vegetation study done at the mine site was incorporated into the permit in Volume I, Table
4.8-35.
Water monitoring data compiled in annul hydrology reports indicates the reclaimed mine site
does not have a significant impact on the regional groundwater and surface water systems.
There are no adverse impact trends that exist. Generally, water quality sampling has
demonstrated that results are highly variable and in-line with the projections in the approved
permit document. Please see the attached hydrologic analysis.
There are no renewable resources above the abandoned underground workings so no
subsidence monitoring was or is required.
Approximately 6" of topsoil was placed on the access road reclaimed during 2006. During the 2007
reclamation, approximately 6" of topsoil was placed on the portal area, coal mine waste disposal
