Fire: In case of wildfire, each student is advised of the evacuation plan as part of the Student
Agreement/Waiver and Release of Liability Form.
Other(Mining Tools): Tools are the responsibility of each student to provide, but Lost Creek
Mining, LLC will attempt to provide tools for students who do not have any. Students are
required to have proper personal protective equipment to use the tools, in the form of safety
glasses and work gloves. If the student does not have these items, they will be provided by Lost
Creek Mining, LLC.
C. Circle Safety Items Carried on Trips
First aid kit sufficient for group size
Signaling devices
Cell phones
GPS
Note: Any safety items or equipment mentioned under safety hazards are then required. (work
gloves, safety glasses, emergency whistles)
D. Emergency Procedures
Describe the procedure you will use for an emergency, such as a lost client or serious injury
(e.g., how will help be reached, EMS, etc; how will an injury be cared for; how will the remaining
members of the group be taken care of, etc.) If procedures are covered in an employee manual
or other document, include with the plan and reference it. You do not need to rewrite it.
In the event of a lost student, we will first determine where the student was last seen by the
instructors and other students. One instructor will remain with the students while the other will
canvass the class area for the lost student. If the student cannot be located within 30 minutes,
class will be concluded and one instructor will guide the students to the meeting area and to
their vehicles or campsites, while the other instructor will get cell phone access, and call search
and rescue. That instructor will then resume a search pattern, to be joined by the second
instructor after he guides the other students out.
In the event of a serious injury, uninjured students will be cleared of the immediate area of the
injured party, so the instructors can assess the situation and begin to treat any injuries. If the
student needs non-immediate medical attention or can provide self-care but cannot continue the
class, he or she will be guided to their vehicle/campsite by one instructor, while the other
remains with the other students, if it is feasible. If the injured party requires the assistance of
both instructors to get to safety, class will be concluded and the group will return to the meeting
area together. If a student were seriously injured and needed airlift or other medical assistance
we could not provide, and could not be moved, one instructor would remain with the injured
party while the other instructor would go to acquire a cell phone signal and call for assistance.
Cell phone signal can be acquired within 10 minutes or less of foot travel from the immediate
class area. Students who have phones with them will also be instructed to check for a signal, so
that medical assistance can be contacted ASAP.
