Stockpile locations can be found on Map King II -007. Epp 8s Associates <br />surveyors performed topsoil stockpile volume calculations in March, <br />2015 using pre -disturbance and as -built aerial surveys. Topsoil <br />Stockpile #1 (south) contains 3,267 cubic yards and Topsoil Stockpile #2 <br />(north) contains 27,435 cubic yards for a total of 30,670 cubic yards on <br />site. The current disturbed area is 22.89 acres. To cover 22.89 acres <br />with 6" of topsoil would require 18,465 cubic yards. <br />TOPSOIL, EXPLORATION CORE DRILLING <br />Topsoil will be salvaged and will be replaced at all areas of new <br />disturbance caused by exploration core drilling that may damage existing <br />topsoil, such as "cuttings pits", used to collect drill cuttings. Existing <br />topsoil will be removed from these areas and stockpiled in a nearby area <br />where it can be accessed without causing damage to the stockpile <br />location. The topsoil stockpile will be "bermed", tarped, or otherwise <br />protected to help prevent loss of topsoil due to rain and wind events. <br />Once the cuttings pits have been re -filled with sub -soil material, the <br />topsoil will be returned to its original location, spread evenly, and re- <br />seeded as detailed in Section 2.05.4 of this document. <br />Topsoil for exploration core drilling and/or monitoring well drilling and <br />reclamation will be salvaged from the following soil map units; Big Blue <br />Clay Loam, Pulpit Loam, Umbarg Loam, and Witt Loam. Topsoil for mine <br />reclamation will be salvaged from the following soil map units where <br />suitable material for reclamation (greater than 6" is recoverable through <br />normal means) is present; Zau Stony Loam. Due to limitations for use in <br />reclamation, and an overall lack of suitable material, topsoil for <br />reclamation will not be salvaged for reclamation from the following soil <br />map units: Archuleta -Sanchez Stony Complex, Lazear Stony Loam, and <br />Lazear Rock Outcrop Complex,. <br />A further discussion of topsoil salvage, protection, and stabilization at <br />exploration drill pads (as well as monitoring well pads) is contained in <br />Sections 2.04.6 and 2.04.9. <br />OVERBURDEN <br />Approximately 20,500 cubic yards of material was removed from the <br />portal area and used to construct the mine bench and base for all mine <br />surface facilities. Additional overburden was excavated in the <br />construction of the sediment pond. No overburden will be stockpiled as <br />would occur in surface coal mining operations.
