r ;IVL
a T ransit Mix Concrete Co.
,L
EXHIBIT G
64) On page G-4, the Applicant refers to Exhibit E for more details on the reclamation drainage
in the quarry area. However, very little information about this drainage is provided in
Exhibit E. Please provide more details on all proposed drainages to remain for reclamation
in either Exhibit E or G. Additionally, please provide clarification on how the locations of
these drainages were chosen.
Response: A discussion on the reclamation drainage network and the reclamation of
stormwater management structures has been included in Exhibits E and G.
65) On Table G-2A, the value given for Phosphorus under 6/16/15 Results is 110 mg/L.
However, the Segment 14d Standard for Phosphorus is 0.11 mg/L. Please explain or correct
this error.
Response: Table G-2A has been revised to report the correct Phosphorus value of 0.11
mg/L.
66) On page G-26, the Applicant states that water will most likely be purchased from Colorado
Springs Utilities with water hauled from Colorado Springs and stored on site. Please
provide an estimate of the project water requirements including flow rates and annual
volumes for the development, mining, and reclamation phases of the project.
Response: Transit Mix estimates that the operation will require varying amounts of water
depending on the time of year and weather. Water will be hauled from Colorado Springs
on an as-needed basis; Transit Mix estimates this will require an average of 4 to 6
truckloads per day using a 6,000 to 7,000-gallon tanker truck. Transit Mix plans to install 2
cisterns to hold water hauled from Colorado Springs: 1 — 5,000-gallon cistern at the scale
house and 1 — 15,000-gallon cistern or tank at the plant site.
67) On page G-27, the Applicant states the 2017 drilling program identified the existence of
saturated groundwater conditions within the granodiorite rocks above the level of Little
Turkey Creek. Please expand the discussion, providing more details about these saturated
conditions. Does the Applicant believe these conditions to represent the groundwater table
for this area?
Response: Section 3.2 of Attachment G-2 has been revised to expand on the discussion of
saturated groundwater conditions in the quarry area. Potentiometric data indicate that
saturated groundwater conditions exist in the granodiorite rocks of the South Ridge, where
the proposed quarry will be located, above the elevation of Little Turkey Creek. Figure 3-2
of Attachment G-2 shows the distribution of potentiometric head elevations, that closely
represent the water table. These are also shown on Figures C-11 and C-12. Within the
quarry footprint, saturated conditions range from zero to 250 feet above the level of
adjacent Little Turkey Creek and range from zero to 200 feet below ground surface.
Hitch Rack Ranch Quarry(M-2017-049)
Response to Comments—March 9,2018
