define ground-water conditions in the Trapper Mine.
Aquifer tests for these strata have been conducted throughout the Trapper
mine. Table 2.7-21b summarizes the aquifer tests conducted since the last permit
submittal.
Most of the pumping and observation wells were completed in or near coal
seams. A representative permeability for the coal seams and nearby strata is
typically less than one ft/day. Permeabilities are undoubtedly much lower for the
shale sections of the Upper Williams Fork. The aquitards between the aquifers have
low horizontal and vertical permeabilities. Overall, the Upper Williams Fork
retards vertical flow.
U Complex
The U Complex associated with the U coal seam is not of much hydrologic
importance and only wells GF-2 and GZ-2 are completed in this unit. Typical of
lower units in the Upper Williams Fork Formation well GF-2 exhibits a low
transmissivity of 3.1 gal/day/ft and a permeability of .10 ft/day and for the U
aquifer and well GZ-2 a slightly higher transmissivity of 18 gal/day/ft and a
permeability of .24 ft/day.
OR Aouifer
Eight wells were tested to obtain aquifer properties on the QR aquifer. Wells
tested include: GD-2, GE-1, GF-6, GP-1, GP-S, GP-6, GP-6A and CZ-3. Most wells in
• this section are completed in the full QR sequence, while wells GF-6, GD-2 and GZ-3
2-4628
REVISED ~ ~ ~ ~a~
