The inspection was <br />completed by Clayton Wein of the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (the Divission). Basil Bear of <br />Bowie Resources, LLC (BRL) was present for the inspection of the Paonia Loadout. The weather was clear and <br />breezy with a temperature starting at 41 degrees farenheight and ending at 51 degrees farenheigh t during the <br />inspection of the Paonia Loadout. The ground conditions were partly snow covered and muddy. <br />BACKFILL and GRADING – Rule 4.14 <br />Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1; Approximate Original Contour 4.14.2; Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); <br />Steep Slopes 4.14.2, 4.27; Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gu llies 4.14.6: <br /> Six sediment ponds were reclaimed in the fall of 2017 at the Bowie No. 1 Mine. Five were located at the <br />East Mine and one was located at the ROM Area. For detailed information about each of the sites, please see the <br />Hydrologic Balance section of this report. <br /> <br />FISH and WILDLIFE – Rule 4.18: <br /> During the inspection of the Bowie No. 1 Mine, deer tracks were observed in the snow at several <br />locations. <br /> <br />HYDROLOGIC BALANCE - Rule 4.05 <br />Drainage Control 4.05.1, 4.05.2, 4.05.3; Siltation Structures 4.05.5, 4.05.6; Discharge Structures 4.05.7, 4.05.10; <br />Diversions 4.05.4; Effluent Limits 4.05.2; Ground Water Monitoring 4.05.13; Surface Water Monitoring 4.05.13; <br />Drainage – Acid and Toxic Materials 4.05.8; Impoundments 4.05.6, 4.05.9; Stream Buffer Zon es 4.05.18: <br /> There are two ponds located at the West Mine; the WS-1 Pond and the WS-2 Pond. Both of the ponds <br />were dry during the inspection. The north facing side of the embankments were partially covered in snow. There <br />were not any indications of ins tability or erosion. The embankments of the two ponds were well vegetated. <br /> <br />In the fall of 2017, the five ponds at the East Mine were backfilled, regraded and seeded. The Waste Pile Pond <br />was partly covered in snow at the time of the inspection. The str aw mulch was observed to be in good condition.
