Figure 13 -1 shows a cross - section of the installation. The double pipe system
has been designed to route a potential leak through the pile without major
erosion. The drain daylights at the toe of the pile.
A standby discharge point from the Roadside Mine will be from CDPS permit No.
CO- 0027146, outfall 002. The flow is piped through the seal of the old
Northwest Intake portal. The water flows through a 6" polyethylene pipe which is
buried from the portal south a distance of 300' along 1 -70 to a CDOT culvert.
The 6" pipe is extended under the highway through the CDOT culvert and out
through a meter to the Colorado River. Discharge points are shown on Exhibit
17. This pipeline will remain in place after reclamation to provide a backup
method to dewater the Roadside Mine.
Two areas associated with RSS use alternate sediment control. These areas
are the A and B Substations located to the east of the operations areas. During
the fourth quarter of 2002, B Substation was removed and the area reclaimed.
During August 2007, A Substation was removed. Both reclaimed areas were
extensively roughened, seeded and mulched. Two short silt fences were
installed as alternate sediment control at B Substation. One silt fence was
installed as alternate sediment control at A Substation. A grass filter design is
presented in Appendix 14 -6 beginning on page 147. The grass filter design
demonstrates the silt fences located at A and B Substations are no longer
required.
CAMEO REFUSE DISPOSAL AREA 2 (CRDA 2)
Runoff above CRDA 2 is diverted around the pile by an upper diversion ditch
which was constructed during 2002. Runoff from the refuse pile is directed to
Pond 10. Collection ditches are maintained along the east and west edges of
the pile to route water to the pond and terrace drains on the face of the pile direct
flow to the collection ditches. Culverts are installed under Haul Road 4 to route
the water to Pond 10. See Exhibit 51, Table 13 -4 and Appendix 13 -2 for details.
TR -64 13 -13 (Rev 05/13)
